STUDENTS at Garfield Primary School have switched on to energy safety.
Energy Safety Week was recently held to help primary students understand how energy works and how to keep safe while using gas and electricity in household kitchens.
Throughout the week, students shared their safety messages with the community to show how energy works and how to keep safe while using energy in the kitchen.
Garfield Primary School teacher Mareta Singleton and her students powered up for a week of energy activities.
Our students took on the role of safety police as they investigated energy and keeping safe, Mrs Singleton said.
Using materials provided by Origin Energy, students learned about where energy came from, how energy worked, and how to be safe in the kitchen.
The program has given students the chance to get creative and lead the way in spreading the word on energy safety, Mrs Singleton said.
Students focused on energy efficiency during term two and used Energy Safety Week to learn more.
We made electric circuits to see how energy works and then explored how to be safe, Mrs Singleton said.
