TANNER Thomsen is a chip off the old block.

Tanner, who lives in Pakenham, is playing Chip in the Cardinia Performing Arts Company production of Disneys Beauty and the Beast.

The production will be on at the Cardinia Cultural Centre until Saturday, 2 September.

This is a huge challenge for a sevenyearold because the role usually calls for lads aged about 10 or 11.

Director Lee Geraghty said despite his tender age, Tanner was doing a brilliant job.

Who could resist that cute little face? he said.

Tanner is the son of accomplished musicians and music teachers Kim and Peter Thomsen, so music flows in his veins.

He is also learning to play the drums.

His mum, Kim, conducts the Cardinia Civic Concert Band and is the musical director for Beauty and the Beast.

Tickets start at $20 and are selling fast, but there are evening and weekend matinee performances and family tickets still are available.

Phone the Cultural Centre on 1300 887 624 or the Cardinia Performing Arts Company on 0407 090 354 for bookings and some tickets may be available at the door.
